I am eating chicken soup now because earlier today a bear growled at me. I need my sons to protect me from bear growls, but usually they just laugh at me. |

We have to put Mathilda down soon - our sweetheart lady German Shepherd - probably tomorrow. We have known for a while that something was wrong, but couldn't bear to put both the dogs down at the same time. Cowardice I guess. We've never been without a dog in the 30 years we've lived here. So many German Shepherd personalities we've known; all different, all so intelligent and beautiful, and such good friends. I miss them so much. |

The car is covered with an inch of ice, and the door is frozen shut! I guess I'm not going to the groc. store and pharmacy today. Ideas?! Or do I just go to bed with a book? |

Some days are for hating - We had to put down our 11 year old German Shepherd today - It just doesn't seem right to do that to a friend who never did anything but love you dearly. |

Well, I'm finally drawing the portrait of a lovely young girl with a black hat. I postponed it to do the 3 dogs; dogs are much harder than people. |

| My cat's in love with a light bulb |
[Nov. 14th, 2008|07:04 pm] |
He really is.
He sits up on his haunches like a squirrel under the lamp shade. He then puts his little front feet on the lamp to balance himself, then he closes his eyes and puts his face a quarter inch from the light bulb and goes comatose. - This can last for several TV shows. When it's time for bed, and I turn off the lamp, he hisses something dreadful in catspeak. My cat's in love with a light bulb. He really is. |

How do you define abuse? We've all probably been abused by someone at some point in our lives. When do you call it quits with the relationship? Again, how do you define abuse? |

Now, Max is kidnapping and chewing up the largest and most expensive of my watercolor paint brushes. Does anyone want a totally evil 7 mo. old white cat? |

The other night, I dreamed that my mother and her attendant had moved to a different house - one in a western suburb. I went to see her - I could hear her voice from another room, but when I looked around the house, I couldn't find her. It was very odd and uncomfortable. |

| Further adventures of Max the cat |

Well, We certainly haven't been bored since last Mother's Day. He has taken up bug hunting now - I didn't know that cats could fly. No really, He reminds me of those Asian warriors who chased each other with swords while flying across the trees. The flies and Ladybugs are trying to get in the house to avoid the colder nights - so every time we open the front door a new supply of victims enters to invigorate the Great White Hunter. The hunt starts like this: He starts off with tensing all over - then emits a sort of high pitched bark (I didn't know that cats could bark) if the bug is on the ceiling, Then he will jump at least 6 feet trying to reach it - this can go on for hours, depending on how high the bug is. Sometimes he will launch himself off of the sofa or other furniture - all with single minded ferocity! Last night, to end the insanity, I held him up to reach the Ladybug that was sitting on the wall near the ceiling. He jumped out of my arms and just barely missed the bug. Then I swished at the prey with the newspaper to make it fly lower - cat grabbed it in his clawless paws and crunched up on the spot. It's nice to have a bug removal specialist in the house. |

:( Our car has an odor that tells us something died somewhere in the middle of the car. I suppose our mystery creature was looking for a warm place to spend the night - It found one all right. Now we live with the unmistakable smell of decomposition - Does anyone out there have experience with this? |
